Great tasting DIY Travel Latte

Traveling with a portable kit that latte sounds probably crazy, but for those of us who quality of caffeine is equal to the joy and the functionality that is something to consider.

I live near Seattle and during suffered years of depravity quality coffee (QCD) when you travel. These great espresso shops that manage to survive each category in the Northwest and San Francisco Bay quickly thin none in other parts of the country, except for the bastions of Enlightenment coffee that France and Italy, may be impossible to find elsewhere. While elsewhere in the world of coffee has a long tradition, but coffee consumption is usually a totally different and unrelated to the palette.

The attempt from Starbucks to spread throughout the known universe has made the situation easier, the introduction a decent coffee in many nooks and crannies, Starbucks, but is not yet ubiquitous, and is generally available in the room.

For years, the solution was to travel with the tea quality. The tea can be very good. Tea meets the urgent desire of caffeine. And the quality tea has a subtle complexity that soothes the soul. But tea is not coffee, and when I want the intensity of coffee nothing else will.

Forget the coffee-room hotels and motels offer. The pre-packaged, low and bitter beer they produce is nothing more than the dose of caffeine. It awakens the body, but brings no joy. Fine Hotels generally serve coffee quality but the extra cost of the room is a peak, the high price to pay for a cup of coffee. What to do?

Fortunately, with some simple equipment and relatively portable and inexpensive, with a microwave, now common in homes, you can create an environment more acceptable than the imitation of the classic cafeteria. That's what you need.

A portable coffee maker. For years I used a plastic press also called French Press. Glass is best, but it is too fragile to travel. This is the easiest solution. Bring your own coffee, unfortunately, pre-ground, but you can not have it all. Zap a cup water in microwave oven and a couple of minutes later you have redemption.

Jar press has been replaced in my team for a device called the AeroPress coffee and espresso maker. The AeroPress looks a hypodermic designed for a dinosaur. Instead of a needle, however, has coffee with a perforated plate containing a Coffee Filter. The AeroPress is a real advantage over a pot of the traditional press. It is much easier and less complicated to clean. And coffee is more like an espresso, tasting different exit press pot of beer produced. Both are good. Just different.

The AeroPress is the best choice for coffee at a cafe milk. A potential drawback of the AeroPress is that it takes some effort to press the plunger down. Aids to grow slowly, but may be harder some are able to use. It is not easy on the joints or fewer people.

Operation is simple. With the filter in place, like coffee in the tube. Place the manufacturer over a cup of coffee. Pour hot water into the tube, shake and wait 20 seconds and insert the plunger. Push down to remove the coffee. The resulting brew is concentrated, is not so much as an espresso, but almost.

If you just want a coffee, add hot water to desired strength, softening or clarification and enjoy. Lattes If you like, then you need a piece of equipment, a sparkling wine.

The simplest is foaming for 2 / 3 of a cup of cold milk in an airtight container and microwave. A travel cup hard plastic with a tight lid works great as a beer bottle or pint Nalge. When the milk, make sure it is cold, is sealed in, shake the thing about 30 seconds. Remove lid and microwave for 20 seconds to put the foam. Either foam milk in a cup and add coffee and pour the coffee directly Travel on the mouth. Instant milk, low-tech.

Skim milk works best, but it has little flavor. 2% milk is a good compromise between the foam and flavor. Whole milk is not conducive to the formation of cold foam. Again, make sure the milk is cold when it starts. Hot milk does will not foam.

The handle and foam method for cooking, but not micro-bubbles of the foam you get from a machine espresso. This may be good enough for you. If not, do not worry, it's portable foam do a better job than many espresso machines home and light and small enough to pack. Most travelers are more respectful of mixing drums. Aerolatte a couple of models that come with plastic travel case drive and operate on two AA batteries.

Again, start with cold milk. Insert the foaming and mix the foam out. You need a container with a volume of at least twice in the first pour the milk into foam hot, make sure it is microwave. N stainless permitted. Once the foam has tormented in shape, microwave for 10 to 20 seconds, depending on how hot you want your drink. Be careful not to overheat milk, the collapse of bubbles. Mix the milk foam on my latte. Enjoy.

The mixture of motor really enough to make a decent cappuccino foam rigid, while the shaking and baking method is suitable only for coffee.

Has anyone tired of this alternative instant coffee?

Instead of simply putting a teaspoon of coffee instant granules, then fill the cup of boiling water to half fill with hot water the other half with hot milk. Its really nice and almost like a cafe au lait
